Yeah, I'm sure I do. Sorry.

No - n-no, don't be sorry! I'm sorry for being so blunt, but - are you okay? Is there something I can do?

[robitussin]

Yeah. I came for a quest.

[jamborees]

. . . oh. Well, I meant aside from that, but . . .

What do you need?

[robitussin]

Liquor. Something strong. If you want to help... A quest where I don't have to talk to anyone else would be great.

[jamborees]

[she considers . . . then nods]

Okay.

I have a game coming up, and so I usually ask people to help me - what kinds of things do like to do at parties? Give me three, and I'll give you a bottle of something.

[robitussin]

Drink, get high, dance.

If I give you another three can I get more?

[jamborees]

. . . [well, she did ask] I can't let people get high here . . . I think.

I'll give you two if you make the answers more detailed. Think of other party games - objectives you had fun completing.

[robitussin]

It's legal in some places. You probably could.

Sure. Once we had to do someone's hair, that was alright because we didn't have to talk about our feelings and it's not awkwardly physical. Uh, teaching someone a new skill is cool, too. Learning new stuff is alright.

[jamborees]

Probably, but I don't have the means to get it anyway. . . . I think. There's other Echoes here who could, though.

—oh, those are good ones . . . is talking about feelings really that bad?

[robitussin]

We should be allowed to do it when we actually want to, not when we have to force it to get points in a game.

[jamborees]

[she hums in thought, tapping her chin with a finger]

It's really mean if it's forced, huh . . .

Yep, pretty much.

[jamborees]

[her nose scrunches up, but she nods and makes a gesture for Natalie to follow her deeper into the ballroom]

What about giving compliments? Would that be considered the same?

[robitussin]

[following her]

Nah, not really. I mean, telling someone you like their hair is different from explaining your myriad of issues.

[jamborees]

But . . . isn't that what friends do? Talk about their problems to each other?

[robitussin]

Yeah, but there's a difference between, like... This person is my friend and I have a problem that I legitimately want their help with, and this person is my friend so I guess we have to talk about our problems if even we don't want to since this echo is making us.

[jamborees]

. . . good point. Okay, no talking about problems unless people want to.

[she stops in front of a large cabinet and kneels down to open it, then pulls out a bottle and holds it over her shoulder to Natalie]

What else don't people like?

[robitussin]

Having to make out with people they don't know.

[taking the bottle, yessss]

[jamborees]

[she pauses, almost guilty]

. . . I'll scratch that one. [and a second bottle]

What else?

[robitussin]

Having to share memories. Kind of the same principle as not liking having to talk about their problems.

[jamborees]

. . . what if it's sharing nice memories that aren't - um, private?

[robitussin]

How are you gonna regulate that?

[pacing slowly around her realm]

Do you think what we did was terribly unacceptable?

[jamborees]

Are you still worried about that?

[while Eloise paces, Soiree has taken to wiping down the tables] I don't think so, no. I think they really blew it out of proportion. I mean, the girls seemed to enjoy themselves, didn't they? And the boys did too, after they got over having to wear a dress.

[everafters]

I suppose so, but... I do so hate to see people upset. Do you think men have a heightened sense of ego that's more easily punctured...?

[jamborees]

[everafters]

[...lets out a small laugh]

You sound as though you have much experience.

[jamborees]

I wouldn't say that.

[everafters]

What would you say, then?

[jamborees]

Just that I'm familiar with men being . . . of different thought.

[everafters]

Would you care to elaborate?

[jamborees]

Do I have to?

[everafters]

Oh - no, of course not! I didn't mean to impose, darling. My apologies.

You're not imposing! It's fine, it's just - weird to talk about, that's all.

You're right, I'm sure there's a cheerier topic to be found. What would you like to talk about, dear?

[jamborees]

Hmm. Anything? I'm not . . . really picky about conversation topics. I'll talk about anything.

[everafters]

Then... We should run a game together again at some point! What sort of game would you like to do?

[jamborees]

Oh! [she claps her hands together excitedly] I would love to run another game with you!

Um, I really like throwing parties, like the one we just did . . . and I like giving them all the opportunity to start new friendships, so . . .
